My sweetest musical sensation- Death Cab for Cutie
Posting their latest music video of You Are a Tourist from their upcoming album in May, Codes and Keys I couldn’t help but wonder about the very first time I fell in love with this band. It was 2005.
As I posted something about them on Facebook, someone commented how Death Cab had been writing the same thing over and over again as their albums progressed. I begged to differ. Nicole Frehsee from the Rolling Stone magazine said You Are a Tourist is, “a sprawling, echo-y ode to feeling displaced – are more hopeful than the tunes on 2008’s Narrow Stairs.” I completely agree on the article. Narrow Stairs was very dark and I think this album is different as exactly how the band members’ lives completely underwent change.
I’m very tempted to pre-order their album package that includes the CD of course, a shirt, a tote bag and more goodies. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us but until then, I leave you to listen to this beautiful tune.
