It’s Time to Shoot Some Hoops
So it has begun.
Basketball 2010 season has started and I could not be more excited. The UTEP Miners had their first sell-out game of the season last night and I had an amazing time watching the game and being entertained once more.
Last year I had the privilege of attending most of the home games and being able to sit in second row seats, was more than I could ask for.
This year, it’s different.
As Nicole and I walked in the Don Haskins Center, it was so crowded. I tried to get there at an early time to get the best seats in the house but that was not the case. Of course, everyone rushed to get good seats so we got stuck by sitting near the top for most of the first half.
Fortunately, our editors scooted to make room for Nicole and I and for the second half, we got to see the game closer.
Last night if felt different. I was not in the usual second row seats. I was not among the regular crowd. I was exactly where I belonged the whole time- in the student section.
Needless to say, I am not bragging about the seats, I am happy to say that I enjoyed having seats where the students were, and I couldn’t have been more excited to cheer for my team.
Here’s when it all started to go downhill. The Miners lost. I was upset that this was a sell-out game, the Miners bled orange but not enough to score the final points to beat Pacific.
I was disappointed, however, I always like to see the bright side of things and I saw it as being the first game, and the team will get better.
Until next game, Go Miners!

This is me at a basketball game in January ‘10. These were some of the best seats in the house.
